The traditional dance originated in Tokushima on Shikoku Island has a history of over 400 years. The Awaodori-Dance is accompanied by the song whose lyrics include a unique refrain that goes “Odoru ahou ni / Miru ahou / Onaji ahou nara / Odoranya son son”, which means “the dancers are fools and the watchers are fools, if both are the same fools, why not join dancing”. You can feel the power and energy of the dance performance.
